We will report on the "Utsukushima (Beautiful Fukushima) Next-Generation Medical Industry Agglomeration Project" being implemented since 2005 in Fukushima Prefecture, one of Japan's biggest producers of medical equipment.

Fukushima Prefecture is one of Japan's biggest producers of medical equipment, and research and development is being carried out with great enthusiasm at not only Fukushima Medical University, but also the College of Engineering at Nihon University, Fukushima University, and the University of Aizu.
The prefecture has taken advantage of this to launch the "Utsukushima (Beautiful Fukushima) Next-Generation Medical Industry Agglomeration Project" in 2005, to agglomerate industries in the field of medical devices with industry-academia-government cooperation.
Moving forward, industries, academia and the government will come together in solidarity to implement seamless initiatives to ascertain the on-site needs of medical workers, R&D and commercialization, with the aim of establishing a major agglomeration of medical device industries that will contribute globally.
