■About the Nationwide Tree-Planting Festival
The Nationwide Tree-Planting Festival is the main event of the National Afforestation Campaign. It has been held every year in spring since 1950, by the National Land Afforestation Promotion Organization in collaboration with the cities and prefectures where the events have been held.
Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress and numerous other people from all over the country attend the event in which trees are hand-planted by the participants during the tree-planting ceremony.
