When I came to Fukushima, I didn’t really know what I wanted. ‘I want a unique career’, ‘I want to look like a good person’, selfish feelings with perhaps a little bit of good-will mixed in as well.
owever over time, I gradually began to change. No matter how I invited them, none of my friends would come to Fukushima. I realized just how closely the reputational damage was affecting me.
When my father came to Fukushima, and enjoyed a wonderful few days here, I might have been even happier than he was.
At some point I started to realize that more than Fukushima needing me, I need Fukushima. While I don’t know of the pre-disaster Fukushima, I love the current Fukushima that is fighting hard to recover. I’m also looking forward more than anyone to the future that will be made through everyone’s hard work.
