Soothing Journey in a Remote Village

Take a drive and enjoy the nature of Minamiaizu.
This is a trip around Hinoemata Village, considered the gateway to Oze National Park in Fukushima.
Along the way, you'll also find some delicious bakeries and nostalgic Japanese scenery.
The traditional cuisine only found in this remote region is sure to refresh your body and mind!

As we were traveling and admiring the nostalgic scenery from the window, we suddenly came across a woodworking store. It's lunch time at "Kikori Cafe" inside! All the breads look so delicious that it's hard to choose. The staff recommended the croissants, which are crispy and fluffy, and the bagels are chewy, perfect with coffee! I want to try the other breads too!

Byobuiwa Rock is visible on the way to Hinoemata Village. I definitely recommend going down to see it! You will be overwhelmed by the beautiful clear waters of the Inagawa River and the towering unusual and bizarre rocks!

We arrived at Hinoemata Village, a hidden gem in Fukushima! The large gate is impressive. Six Jizo statues are lined up in a row on the way to the inn. In spring, you can enjoy the combination with blooming cherry blossom trees.

We strolled around the village and then headed to our lodging for the night. At "Komadori" you can enjoy "Yamohdo cuisine," the traditional dishes of Hinoemata Village. And there's even salamander tempura?! You'll have to try for yourself to find out how it tastes.

After breakfast at the inn, we went for a walk. We went to see "Hashiba no Bamba" and the "Hienomata Kabuki Stage." Hashiba no Bamba is said to help cut off unpleasant relationships and create good ones. The Kabuki Stage has such mystical energy that it attracts so many people the stone steps are filled to capacity every year. I want to see a performance too!

After checking out, we headed to Nakadogai Park Observatory. You can enjoy a panoramic view of Hinoemata Village here. Maybe the reason there are so many red roofs is to make them easier to see even when it snows...? The autumn scenery looks great too!

Hinoemata is famous for Oze National Park! However, since we didn't have much time on this trip, we went to Mini Oze Park. You can enjoy the plants that grow in the main park here. There is also a waterfall and crisp, clean air. And of course, salamander ice cream! The appearance certainly makes an impression!

Find souvenirs around Oze Hinoemata Roadside Station! At Yamodoya you can buy salamander souvenirs and local specialties. Even at the roadside station, it was exciting to see local products like cut soba noodles and honey!
